A benefit spaghetti dinner and silent auction for the family of Christopher Kleven is set for 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25 in the commons area at Prior Lake High School, 7575 150th St., Savage.
Kleven died Aug. 30 in a car crash in Wyoming, leaving behind a wife and five children. Kleven had been working in Wyoming to support his family after a layoff from his previous job.
Fourth-grader Alex Sexton of Prior Lake reels in fish with her Five Hawks Elementary classmates Friday at Lakefront Park. It was Sexton's first time fishing, and she was proud to have caught 13 sunnies by the afternoon. "It's pretty easy when you use meal worms," she said. The school partnered with the Department of Natural Resources Fisheries to teach students about water safety, the water cycle and fishing. About 120 students hiked to the park for the full-day event. The Prior Lake-Savage Area School Board will meet Monday, Sept. 22, following the Board Scholar Program, which begins at 6:30 p.m. at Prior Lake High School. The board meeting will be held in the large conference room at the District Services Center, 4540 Tower St., Prior Lake. Coordinators estimate a 7:30 or 8 p.m. meeting time.

Berniece Peters has acclimated to city living after moving from her family farm in Butterfield, Minn.
Peters said after a move to Chaska, she then came to Prior Lake in January to be closer to her son’s family in Spring Lake Township.
