A 42-year-old Prior Lake man was arrested for his fourth driving while impaired (DWI) violation in 10 years after being stopped for speeding near Highway 13 and Rustic Road on Aug. 13.

A 20-year-old Faribault man pleaded guilty to one count of criminal vehicular homicide for leaving the scene of a fatal accident in connection with the hit- and-run crash that killed a Prior Lake man in the parking lot of the Event Center in Burnsville in April.

Charges were dismissed against a 17-year-old Prior Lake boy in connection with the burglary and assault of a 74-year-old Prior Lake woman that occurred in April.

Holden Smith was cleared of first-degree burglary and third-degree assault charges, which were dropped by prosecution, based on the result of lab tests in Scott County court on July 22.

Former Prior Lake Fire Chief Bruce Sames was sentenced to serve a total of 15 days in Scott County Jail with credit for time served and up to five years probation by Scott County District Court Judge Michael Fahey on Friday morning.

The Scott County Attorney’s Office charged four people with first-degree criminal damage to property and fifth-degree assault following a disturbance in the 2600 block of Wilds Lane this week.

A 38-year-old Prior Lake man was arrested and jailed for his fourth driving while impaired DWI incident within a 10-year period in the 16700 block of Highway 13 on July 13.

Prosecutors today dropped the most serious charge against Randal Hennes, the 40-year-old Prior Lake man who collided with an 11-year-old bicyclist at a busy intersection in Shakopee last week.

The Scott County Attorney's office withdrew the criminular vehicular injury charge after blood work came back from the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension showing Hennes had a blood alcohol content of 0.07 percent, just under the legal limit.

A father who came to the defense of his 12-year-old daughter at Valleyfair
is recovering after being badly beaten by a group of young men.

The incident began July 5 when the girl was reportedly accosted by two men. After a brief confrontation with her father, one of the men used his cell phone to call his friends at the park for help, saying he “needed his boys back over here to get these bitches.”
