All in all you're just another brick in the wall."
dbmasters, your comment makes me think of the scene in the movie "The Wall" where all the children are in unison, perfect order and being marched into the grinder to be molded into the same thing (it's all symbilism of course).
"If you don't eat yer meat, you can't have any pudding. How can you have any pudding if you don't eat yer meat?"
"You! Yes, you behind the bikesheds, stand still laddy!"

"everyody wears the same thing no hats no fights no yelling no music no talking without raising your hand only talking to teachers for an hour with a 5 minute break 20 minute lunches"

sounds like a well run, disciplined school, if school was run like this from kindergarden and kids were taught some moral values, respect and personal responsibility in school and by their parents from birth, there wouldn't be the problems there are now.

i am a senior this year at

i am a senior this year at the high school . gangs are present but theyre not a problem. there is cliches but thats not bad. each group stays to themselves most of the time. the school is MOSTLY white and racism is VERY obvious. i'm colored and ive dealt with it for 3 years now most of my friends ended up in lydia an alternative school because of it. but you are all looking way to far into this. hats dont make cliches and gangs and start fights. people do. personally i wear a hat everyday and have for 3 years and its never caused a problem. but if kids mess around isnt that high school? how do you think kids will act if high school goes how the adults want it to? everyody wears the same thing no hats no fights no yelling no music no talking without raising your hand only talking to teachers for an hour with a 5 minute break 20 minute lunches where you cant even walk around its like a jail! no matter what they do kids are still gonna be kids! they can take away hats but all its gonna do is make kids mad and they're not afraid to speak up about it so even more kids are just gonna get in trouble and god forbid the supervisors have to do their work! i know them. they switch shifts of walking around the school, sitting at a desk surfing the internet every now and then telling someone to sign in, or sit in ISS for an hour. WOW. hard work huh?

it might be because im a student, but i think if the school didnt make so many random constricting rules, then certain stuff wouldnt be such a big deal. it should be a teachers decision if hats are allowed in a classroom like every other year ive been there.

taking away hats isnt gonna make the kkk stick out more. we know who they are. and its not gonna make people stop being gang members. does it seem realistic for someone to go
"oh i cant wear a hat? im not gonna be a blood anymore i wanna get along with everybody!"
fights happen get over it. im not saying its good but as long as you put a bunch of tough guys together there's gonna be conflicts. next thing you know we wont be able to wear flip flops or lanyards for our keys or earings or lipstick or shirts with writing on them because itll "distract the staff". ive never heard a teacher say anything about a hat being distracting. its like saying i cant remember what i was gonna say to you because you have something on your head.

i just think they're gonna realize it was a bad idea to take hats away when school starts because at least half the guys wear hats and they're not gonna listen to the rules.

and i was just wonderin how does not letting people in prior lake high school relate anything to hitler and jews?

Thanks, Jensen313. I appreciate your comments. I think it's important for adults to understand issues students face at school.

We can guess at what goes on (and report the "hard facts" like School Board proceedings) but its great when students step up and let people know their experiences.

Do you feel that the racism is organized (an actual group of students that gang up on minority students)? Are the KKK markings at random, or have they been written on minority students' lockers, for example?

When you say the Russian mafia students have brought items to school, is there anything specific? (guns, knives or are you talking colors/symbols)

"I'm not aware that there

"I'm not aware that there are KKK-related problems in the Prior Lake Savage Area Schools.
In the past two years, I know that there have not been any disciplinary actions at the School Board level relating to this type of discrimination or racism.
Students in the school may be able to comment more directly about possible gang-related issues that haven't resulted in any actions.
I think it would be great if some PLHS students could share how they feel about the hat issue, as well as if there are any "unseen" issues at school.

Ummmmm actually there is a serious problem it's just never reported, and btw the freshman class... is going to be something you would never imagine, racism.... is actually quite high, I'd know... becuase I've met them, they are my peers, I'm senior they will be freshman, i know a few of them, N****r is a word OFTEN use by "white" students of there age, and KKK it's been a problem since my freshman year, I've seen in on the walls of the stalls in the bathrooms, I've heard it from some of the more.... as they are dubbed at our school "hicks". As a matter of a fact, I have actually stopped being friends with some people becuase they have made racist or KKK remarks. As for Mafia... The russian related kids that have come in, have shown and brought mafia related things to school. I think you guys may actually be blissfully unaware about quite a few things that go on in our "fine example of an exemplary" school. As for unseen, HIGHLY, their is drug use in that school, on our busses, and certainly directly outside our school (still on school grounds.)

Key in Prior lake to Google

Key in Prior lake to Google & you get all SORTS of info on drug rehab centers , and on the Latin Kings, one of the gang responsible for distribution in your area. & indeed most of your state. It also brings to the forefront the idiocy of the hat ban, for if there is no gangs activity, or "dicipline problem" the the had ban is the product of a small minded, possibly racist mindset.
As for the Man who was killed, they did arrest juveniles of high school age, gang or not, if the school bully kills someone, whether he was wearing a hat is the LEAST of your problems.
Also the hat ban still leaves racist skinheads and neo-nazis free to express themselves, & even ENCOURAGES this sort of thing by mandating the display of skin head tattoos in a hat free environment. It also is the recurrent example of the ineffective way in which school administrators are addressing problems.
If a student shoots someone, ban guns, then a studdent is stabbed to death, ban knives, then a student gets run over in the parking lot, ban cars, the a student gets garroted in the hallway, and the cycle continues. At no point would they be interested in finding out what is CAUSING the problems.
Also, as skinheads & ms13 start moving to your town,
to pick up the slack, folks may finally be forced to address the issues. links on gangs & killings in prior lake
Since drugs are distributed by gangs and the maffia, teh presence of a drug treatment center in your town is a dead giveaway that there are distributors in your area.
Drug Threat in Prior Lake ------
Sources
Drug Situation:In Minnesota, Mexican traffickers control the transportation, distribution, and bulk sales of cocaine, marijuana, methamphetamine, and small amounts of black-tar heroin. Numerous Mexican groups and street gangs such as the Latin Kings are operating in the city. As a general rule, the upper echelon Mexican distributors in Minnesota transport the majority of their proceeds back to family members residing in Mexico. At the retail level, independent African-American traffickers, African-American street gangs, Native-American gangs, and independent white group purchase cocaine, black-tar heroin, and marijuana from Mexican traffickers. In outlying areas of the city, independent white groups and outlaw motorcycle gangs distribute methamphetamine in small quantities. Street gang activity in Minnesota has increased dramatically over the past few years. African-American gangs appear to be primarily involved in the distribution of crack cocaine.

Prior Lake MN, -Pleasantville it AINT
Yet people still say "we have no gangs""
Banning hats is a move that is just as dumb as banning cars to prevent drive-by shootings. it would just change habits to "walk by shootings", the shootings would continue. the activities , & NOT the hats are what needs to be addressed...

There has not been a "gang killing" in Prior Lake!
There was a Prior Lake man killed in a Burnsville incident in which police suspected possible gang activity. But there have been no gang killings reported in Prior Lake. Let's stick to the facts.

SOME HAts ARE dangerous,

SOME HAts ARE dangerous, Turns out that a Baseball ca company had been turning out baseball caps, with Gang logos & signs on them. They stopped when they realized that an unsuspecting kid could buy the hat based on liking the colors , or design, & then walk into the wrong neighborhood without realizing & get killed by rival gang members.
The Gang that Chooses Spongebob hats as Identifiers would seem harmless though. It does however as if folks are looking for 1 step quick fixes "Ban guns in school" which works till they start stabbing each other, running each other over with cars (happend just this summer in 1 prior lake gang killing) "Ban hats so they cant recognize each other", Just leads to tatoos, T shirts.
Down south, we have different solutions to the same problems. Almost EVERYBODY has guns, (though not in schools or most bars) so we are tend to be extra polite in public as you DONT want to make a probable gun owner angry. The cops also tend to be Incredibly tough. The 1 Riot, 1 Ranger motto & legend started when a lone armed Texas Ranger suppressed a riot of over 100 people all by himself. It also makes it EXTRA important for us to address the problems before the problems become conflicts. Strangely , although its not perfect, things tend to be pretty peaceful here.
Banning all hats just seems too extreme, but after reading more about your community I now definitely agree that banning SOME hats (Ie the gang ones, may help & is warranted) Sadly though not all gangs use hats, & the others will just pick up the slack, even if the hat ban worked. What is really needed is better policing & for somebody to address the underlying issues of why kids join gangs in the first place. .....

I find it very hard to believe grown adults are getting so worked up about something so stupid. The kids, sure, kids will generally complain about anything...but come on, people, they are saying they can't wear hats in school...big friggin deal!

Momma always told me not to wear hats inside anyway, but I guess today's kids aren't taught the same basic tenets of courtesy...it's all about their rights...
