Why not use the 3.7 million from the stimulus to save the teacher's jobs like it was planned as to save jobs. If you use this money to pay for buildings and non jobs uses then it should be returned. The building isn't anything without teachers, because they do all the educating. Maybe from the outside it looks ok but from the inside the school, it goes against what we paid for. Larger class size etc. is exactly what we tried to avoid for a quality education and reason for new schools to have been built. Please use the money for what it was intended for and keep the teachers.

Sen. Sharon Erickson Ropes

Sen. Sharon Erickson Ropes of Winona will introduce Senate bill 3147, to the Senate tonight, which would ammend the current statute.
The proposed bill would call for the 2008 statute to be amended to read that the chiropractic board may not grant a chiropractic license to a felony-level sex offender. The proposed bill would also call for the immediate revocation of a chiropractic license if the person is convicted of a felony-level sexual offense.
Track the bill's progress at www.senate.leg.state.mn.us/bills/billinf.php?ls=86.
Enter the bill number, 3147, on the left hand side of the screen and click on the links to find out what the status of the bill is and to listen or view an archive of tonight's discussion in St. Paul.

Last night, David Letterman

Last night, David Letterman had some fun at Burkett's expense: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9SrZrqLXJW8&feature=player_embedded

She earned it. I just can't believe she's dominating the post-Oscar talk when so many other amazing things happened that night. I guess she really is the new Kanye.

Why is it that the short-film category is always like this.

They put the sci-tech awards on a separate day and then this year just flashed a quick picture up. These are the guys who actually did something that matters to everyone (such as the guys who invented steady cam, the lighting rigs that made Avatar possible, sound editing software) etc...)

What I would like to say to both of these people is:

You made a short movie that nobody saw.
No one cares what either of you have to say.

We want to get back to seeing the disaster of fashion, like
trying to figure how with all the people around no one said to Molly Ringwald - "Uh you know this is the academy awards not the shoot for the Bangel's video".
(If you are from the 80s you will get the reference)

I'm just happy director

I'm just happy director Roger Ross Williams finally got to give his speech, even if it was on the comparatively lesser-watched "Larry King Live." http://jezebel.com/5488772/pardon-the-interruption-oscar+winning-filmmak...

This is really awkward, though, but I feel bad for all of the people who would've gotten a second in the spotlight, even if just being mentioned by name, who had that moment taken from them. Regardless of how Burkett may have felt, I guess I feel like she went about it the wrong way and was very selfish. In her defense, though, she probably felt the same way about Williams.

I saw John Mayer live

I saw John Mayer live tonight, where he proceeded to just shred his guitar and talk a lot of nonsense. The concert was great and the Xcel Energy Center is a great venue, but I think Mayer scores a lot of points because of his earnestness. Mayer is very attractive, his lyrics are genuine and he says a lot of things we wish we could think of and that we wish we could put into words. But sometimes what is supposed to be deep just comes off as a string of unrelated words and a half-baked metaphor. I think the 40-year-old John Mayer will be a lot wiser and look back on his 30-year-old self with a combination of reverence, revision and revulsion.

I agree, if you don't use you lose it. Send it back to Washington and give it to those who will use it. If the district thinks it's better to lose teachers then use this money, then they are wrong and the students lose.
