Parents who think it's okay

Parents who think it's okay to host parties for your children: You are your child's parents, not their friends. Your job is to teach them right from wrong; to be their moral compass. Hosting a party in which you allow them to drink alcohol is against the law and you are also telling them that they can break the law too. Any time a parent does something, be it speeding, drinking and driving, hosting alcohol-inclusive parties for minors, that is against the law, and their children witness it, you are basically telling them that laws don't matter. Your job is to raise them to be moral, honest, contributing members of a civil society. Don't try to be their friend, you shouldn't need friends 30 years your junior. Don't try to be the 'fun' mom or dad. Be the parent who teaches his/her child to do what is right, even if no one is watching.

Considering her stance on

Considering her stance on the land trust issue being directly related to saving taxpayers money, regardless of amount, I'm disappointed that Commissioner Barbara Marshall has approved these raises. I can only hope that she will remain consistent in her desire to protect taxpayers and decline to take her own, personally approved, raise.

Respectfully,
Dan Swanson
With all the job losses, stock market losses, retirement account losses, foreclosures, you would think the city would see that raising taxes is counterproductive. Raising property taxes makes homes that much less able to sell. In a depressed real estate market this is the wrong thing to do.

Respectfully,
Dan Swanson
In one sentence it says Minnesota requires that properties be valued at 100% of their market value, and then the county says that if the property values sink 10% property values would stay the same, not go down 10%. If this is true then the county is not following the Mn law. I think the county needs so much money, and adjusts the property values to meet that amount when property values are going down so they can still operate. When property values are going up the county brings in projects they want to do and adjust the values to meet that higher number.

I've heard a lot of businesses are doing this and their employees actually support it. It's unfortunate, but why shouldn't they? It's better than the alternative.

I would like to congratulate Commissioner Marschall on this recognition and award. This award is very well deserved as she has served the citizens of Prior Lake and Scott County tremendously for many years. Her humble, common sense, "watch out for the good of all" approach has served our community well. Hopefully we will be fortunate enough to benefit from her services for many years into the future!

well first of all i have to

well first of all i have to say that if prior lake had a rodeo for lake front days it would be sold out, you look at all the other towns that put on rodeos for there fairs, or community days, and theres alot. The community liked the bucking bull they had last year, lets have our own bulls and barrels. We have a couple of local riders that will be there to ride if this goes through. And the stock contractor has there own staff to use for the rodeo. Rodeo is coming back and there is alot more of them around the state, so lets give prior lake a rodeo this year at Lake Front Days. If you agree call the committee and let them know.
