The Minnesota Horse and Hunt Club, 2920 E. 220th St., Prior Lake, will offer a free family hunting expo from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 16.
The event is co-sponsored by the Minnesota Waterfowl Association, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Federal Cartridge Company, Birchwood Casey and Coca-Cola. It celebrates the judging of the Federal Duck Stamp Contest, scheduled in Bloomington the following weekend.
The expo is open to children ages 8-17 and their adult companions. Participants will shoot skeet and trap with shotguns and paper targets with rifles. There will be hunting-dog, decoy-setting and duck-calling demonstrations. Lunch will be provided at no cost.
Shooting activities will be supervised by DNR-certified firearms instructors. Firearms will be supplied; no personal firearms will be allowed.
Space is limited, and participants must register by Oct. 1.
