The Savage Police Department is hoping a sketch will bring forward new information relating to the sexual assault last month of a 13-year-old girl in a park in that city.
Investigators have released a drawing of the suspect, based on the victim’s description.
The girl told police she was confronted at Schroeder’s Acres Park, 12320 Boone Ave., in the northwestern part of Savage at 11:30 p.m. Sept. 10 by an unknown male. She described the man as being tall and slender with chin-length dark hair and a thin mustache. He may talk with a slight accent and have a darker complexion.
Anyone who has seen a man matching this description should immediately call the Savage Police Department at (952) 882-2600 or call 911. Any suspicious activity that has been observed at the park also should be reported.
In addition to requesting the public’s help, the Savage Police Department reminds parents to keep a watchful eye over their children. While the department has not received any similar reports of people being assaulted anywhere in the city, Muelken said it is always best to be overly cautious when it comes to children’s safety.
“We want our residents to be aware that this incident did occur,” said Capt. Dave Muelken. “Make sure your children are being supervised by a trusted adult, and don’t ever let them go to a park alone.”
