Legislators
should honor
heritage vote
Did you vote for the Lessard-Sams Outdoor Heritage Council (LSOHC) in 2008? If you did, you’d better keep an eye on your state legislators to insure the funds raised from the tax increase actually end up where they are supposed to.
For years, sportsmen tried to get legislation passed with the specific purpose of benefiting fish, game, and wildlife. Since we could not count on our own government to look after the environment, we did it on our own.
Board
has wrong
priorities
The Prior Lake-Savage School Board is currently considering cutting $3.7 million from the system’s operations budget. The district posted a reductions worksheet on their Web site. That worksheet shows cuts in elementary schools of nine teachers and two specialists in order to save $691,900. Elsewhere, they have proposed cuts to secondary activities totaling only $128,208.

Maas works
for township
residents
In response to the letter to the editor from Mr. Bill Jennings [“Taking issue with clerk’s statements,” letters, Jan. 16]:
Mr. Jennings, I am not sure exactly what is your complaint with Mr. Maas, but it seems like it was about an e-mail address list that Mr. Maas has. Sir, he worked very hard in obtaining these addresses and list distributions. If his opponent would like to have it, well he/she needs to do the legwork, knock on people’s doors and talk with people. That is how you get information, talking with people.
Check
your
detectors
Last week, after going to bed, our children noticed the reading on our carbon monoxide detector was starting to increase.
One of our kids got my wife and me (being elderly) up and dressed while the other called 911. We were told to open doors and windows to ventilate the house and get ourselves out.
I am very proud of our police and firemen for their quick response. They were here before we were ready and help us to get out. They looked for the problem, as the detector kept increasing.
Defending
Jerry
Maas
I was disheartened by the comments in a recent letter to the editor: “Taking issue with clerk’s statements.” I found the issues of the writer to be insignificant and petty at best.
