Mingo is the daughter of John and Mary Ann Mingo of Prior Lake. She attended Prior Lake High School and Minnesota State University-Moorhead, where she earned a bachelor of arts degree in Spanish and communication studies.

Oscarson is the son of Darrell Oscarson of Breckenridge, Minn. and Kari Nordick of Wahpeton, N.D. He attended Wahpeton Senior High and Minnesota State University-Moorhead, where he earned a bachelor of arts degree in history. He most recently graduated from Airline Transport Professionals, receiving certified flight instructor ratings.

A Nov. 1, 2008 wedding is planned at the Church of St. Michael in Prior Lake.
