Prior Lake High School seniors Rebecca Dymit and Brittany Rude, both of Prior Lake, were named Commended Students in the 2009 National Merit Scholarship Program. A letter of Commendation from the school and National Merit Scholarship Corporation, which conducts the program, will be presented to the students.

About 34,000 Commended Students were recognized nationwide for exceptional academic promise. The students will not continue in the 2009 competition for National Merit Scholarships. Commended students placed in the top 5 percent of more than 1.5 million students who entered the 2009 competition by taking the 2007 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship qualifying test.
